~MID-SUMMER~

July 18, 2004,8:00 p.m.

On MINDMISTRESS, where I have a new page.

Latest Thoughts:

Covered. Protected against the bugs. Blending in with the swamp. I'm not a big fan of mud wrestling, even of pretty women---honest! (I think it's rather creepy that some men think it's sexy...)---but it's the most logical thing to do, in this case.

True, she's lacking her strength-amplifying armor, her illusions and protective field, her weapons, her A.I. friend Vicki, her transportation, her catwalk...

But don't ever underestimate her.

THE GODS OF ARR-KELAAN---meet Ronson, the most down-to-earth god you'll ever meet. BYOB.

There's going to be an Earthsea series on the sci-fi channel?

Earthsea?

Ursula K. Leguin's Earthsea???

All riiiiight. By-product of LOTR being so big a movie---people are turning to real fantasy to adapt.

Even if it's cruddy, it's a step in the right direction.

Brian's been to Mexico with his church group, working to repair some buildings in a village, two weeks ago...

He flew out to California with a friend last Sunday, and drove back with my Mom's old car, which is now his car...

He got back mid-day Friday. Yes, I worried about him, all the way. I wonder at what age I'll stop worrying...

And this Sunday he's off to his church camp at Falls Creek Falls.

So in the last three weeks, we've seen him, ohhh, roughly, three or four days.

He's growing up. A summer job, a debit card, a car, starting college this fall...

It's like he's grown up so much in just a few months...a quantum leap.

I've been extremely busy lately. Work, extra projects at work, swimming every day with Eric that I can, editing interviews for Comixpedia (and conducting some), the review group on Buzzcomix, my comic...

Which is getting more and more hits, by the way. Still a long way to go, but I'm doing all right....or at least better.

Sorry if I've been neglecting this journal. But something had to give...

Oh, and I did up a picture for my niece to use on a t-shirt, if she wants. She's going to hacker/security conference and wanted a picture of MM to wear...

It's odd. At the pool there are now Spanish speakers, what sounds like a Slavic language---Russian, Czech, something like that. It's odd to go swimming and feel like you're at the United Nations....

Barb's enjoying this new show, the 4400...

Brian's seen SPIDER-MAN 2, and I told Barb to go ahead and see it without me, since Brian's our main babysitter, and he's been gone so much....

IDENTITY CRISIS has been causing a stir among readers of comics. I'm going to have to pick it up...

So, thought I'd check in---and give you a mid-summer review.
