Sometimes there is an urge to turn people inside-out---to see the hidden sides that are hidden from the casual eye. To wonder what people are really thinking, really feeling.
It can be done....if they volunteer same.
Welcome to Lives On-Line, a monthly ezine/blog that links to the best entries in the on-line journal world for the last month. This is a little late this month, between a business trip and work on a new webcomic called MINDMISTRESS which will have a new page up tomorrow, Wednesday, the 15th.
I try to give preference to journals I haven't linked to before. After a while, that gets harder and harder to do. This particular entry is pretty much half and half.
Yet, all, I think, worth reading. The virtues are all of the individual writers...any lapses of taste are mine, in choosing to link to them.
Humor:
"Lessons in Bike-Riding" gives a real reason to give up the McDonald's Triple cheeseburgers....that's from the inappropriately titled, in this instance, FOOTNOTES.
I sure hope you weren't in the Austell Wall-Mart on the evening of April 13, or you might be mentioned in "Attention Wal-Mart Shoppers". That's from
NO RETURN ACCESS.
"It's either Tupperware or chaos" begins the May 8th entry of THE BLEAT, and then goes on into David Lynch movies.
Drama:
"Story 'Bout a Flying Cat" is about feeling shame for a birth defect you have no control over---in his case, Arnold Chiari Malformation (or ACM for short). That's from JOHN'S BLAHTHINGS.
Read HER LIFE IN A NUTSHELL'S entry for Apr 29th---about the destructive, yet almost seductive beauty of a tornado.
"Different, yet the same" explores what may be the riskiest thing anyone can do---or the most enduring---and certainly the most dramatic. That's from
NO RETURN ACCESS.
"Slow Down and Let Me Get Back On..."---coping with the death of a parent, and of the grieving's returning to life. That's from GRACE BY CHOICE.
Slice-of-Life:
"Barenaked Entry"---growing apart but still yearning for each other. That's from BAD PORNO MUSIC.
"My Favorite Pillow" captures a lovely moment of comfort in bed, from Casey of
ACTUARIALLY SPEAKING.
Someone who actually tries to make a difference, to buck the system and make life better for people is discussed in "Diogenes Weeps" from THE WONDERING JEW.
Miscellaneous:
THE JOURNAL COMIC in it's April 23rd entry, has a confrontation---that isn't a confrontation.
"Sniffles" chronicles a night on the town that gets a woman sick. Literally. FromADVENTURES OF A 20-SOMETHING GODDESS.
In "Making the Committment" the writer finds, to their surprise, that keeping up with a new exercise/health routine is easy and fulfilling. It seems to bring on some odd dreams, though...that's from BRAINSPINNING.
That's enough lives turned inside-out for your inspection...be here next month for more of the hidden side of how other people feel....for more Lives On-Line.
