I'd like to tell you I did something industrious or useful today.
It'd be a lie, though.
I watched TV, mostly news shows. (Some people are sports fanatics...I'm a politics junkie. So sue me.)
I read. I slept. (8:30 till 10:30, and 2 till 4; I used to not be able to take naps in the middle of the day. Yet I get up at four-thirty most mornings, and stay up till eleven-thirty. I'm just catching up, I think.)
Eric did puzzles, Barb and Brian worked on their respective web pages. I didn't shower till after noon.
I searched through my comics. I keep them in no particular order, and I was looking for a particular Jimmy Olsen annual, the one where he and Superman became Nightwing and Flamebird---the "Batman and Robin" of the bottle city of Kandor.
I found twenty comics worth rereading, but I didn't find that one, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm disremembering---whether I lost that particular annual in the fire.
I know it would be a lot simpler if I kept my comics by some sort of system, some sort of order...but it would be a lot less fun...
There's always the thrill of rediscovering a comic you haven't thought of in months...
The Supreme Court is about to weigh in on the Endless Election? Cool.
It's surprising but perhaps....encouraging. If anyone can give a stamp of legitimacy to the next president, they can...
(Although...if it turns out that Clarence Thomas ends up deciding who is the next president....no.)
No matter who wins, the other side will yell "Foul!" Only the Supreme Court can make any sort of measured standard that will satisfy the losing side. It will probably be appealed to them anyway...it's surprising that they thought the Bush arguments worth considering, but I can hope that there will be---finally!---some finality.
In another week.
Maybe.
Of course, who knows how long they'll take to decide it after they hear the arguments...
Eric was happy. They had Warner Brothers movies consisting of Looney Tunes cartoons---like the BUGS BUNNY/ROAD RUNNER MOVIE...following one after another. We could keep it on one channel, and he was watching an endless montage of Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, and Bugs...
Meanwhile, what's my TV highlight tomorrow? BATMAN BEYOND, of course. I missed the one last week, which evidently had the JLU---a future version of the Justice League...and I can't miss this episode! Especially since Superman's supposed to be the traitor....
Some people have to strive to get in touch with their inner child. My inner child is in full, complete, control.
Barb laughingly calls out from the back bedroom,
"Make sure that you mention in your journal that Brian made the honor roll!"
The joke is that Barb hardly ever wants me to mention personal stuff about other family members in the journal....
Okay, I'm easy. It is so mentioned.
I clipped my fingernails. I feel virtuous and the pride of a task well-accomplished. That's my only useful action of the day.
Everything else was childish, useless, and totally a waste of time.
It was great!
May there be many more such...
